The maintenance of buildings and especially the conservative restoration of antique buildings and monuments that are realised with tuff-stone (left in its natural look or anyway exposed to the external space) may request some inhibiting treatment against polluting agents and atmospheric, thermic and hydrometric variations. The right treatment to follow can be cleaning, consolidating, protecting, plastering and sticking; it has to be defined after a whole series of accurate analysis carried out by experts in qualified laboratories. The cleaning removes dust, loam, infesting vegetation, animal dejections, concretions and incrus- tations, glazes and spots, efflorescences, smog, microorganisms and so on. According to the necessities the cleaning can be done with water adopted in different forms: drops, sprinkled, nebulized or steam jets, eventually to be integrated with solvents.
